When I make artwork, I’m conscious that the aim of the work isn’t only an aesthetic effect. It’s intended to be part of an ongoing relationship with the place it resides and the people who spend time with it.

the Designer

I can still remember an unusual window from a house I lived in, briefly, in 1992. The more mundane aspects of the building have long been forgotten, but the curvature and width of the windowsill is etched in my memory. And from a week-long visit to a cottage in Maine when I was eight, I can easily recall the way the exposed rafters made me feel. The archives of my memory are indexed by cast-iron wood stoves, crown molding, and cedar shingles. To cast my mind back in time is to thumb through the idiosyncrasies of each remembered home.

Coming from this perspective, I want my artwork to communicate combinations of lightness, irreverence, and playfulness. Most of all I want my art to enhance a home’s singularity, sense of place, and the feeling that it is a companion.

Individual character is something I’m extremely passionate about. I hand paint each piece without repeats. There is no minimum order size for hand painted work. The maximum order size is 800 square feet. The price starts at $100 per square foot.

This piece is drawn and painted in grayscale. It depicts an outdoor tableau with foreground rocks and trees framing a distant vista. On the ground leopard cubs play with oversized bees
